Longton Street Corner

The Longton Grocery store

You can imagine how much a small grocery store is appreciated in these little towns. And it’s a struggle to keep them in business. We stopped in Longton a couple weeks ago. Though we only had time for brief visit we did a little photography, and stopped in the store to grab a few supplies. The grocery store also handles video rentals, and even sells some computer supplies.

  1. In the summer and fall of 1956, My, then, future husband, was building a bridge near Longton, Ks. We were married 50 years ago on September 22, 1956. We spent our first nights of married life in the Hotel on the corner in the south end of main street. What memories that brings back.

  2. Wow. I grew up in Longton, but it’s been nearly a decade since I’ve been there. It’s hard to find photos (or much at all) about it online. It’s amazing how your photos can give this run-down little town a bit of romantic feel.
