Internal mechanisms of an obsolete gas pump

Highway 10, Colorado

This is the internal mechanism of an old mechanical gasoline pump, complete with the bell. When this was designed two digits for the price per gallon must have seem like all that would be needed. The top set of digits is the amount of sale. The middle is for gallons pumped and the bottom was the cost of a gallon.
