Postcards from Kansas

The Carlton Post Office

Carlton Post Office

Carlton, Kansas - Dickinson County

There’s more activity in Carlton that you’d guess from this photo. Across the street is a large COOP (picture tomorrow) that seems to be busy. But this old tin-clad post office is what stopped me. Carlton is thought to have been named after a blacksmith who ran a nearby post office. Long ago, the town was a stop along the way for Texas to Abilene cattle drives.
